The post Parents blame ChatGPT for son’s suicide, lawsuit alleges OpenAI weakened safeguards twice before teen’s death appeared first on My Blog.
]]>The parents of 16-year-old Adam Raine updated their lawsuit against OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, alleging the chatbot assisted their son’s suicide.
The California family first sued the company earlier this year, but now say they’ve uncovered new evidence that OpenAI repeatedly relaxed its safety precautions around chats involving suicide before their son’s death.
“OpenAI twice degraded its safety protocols for GPT-4.0,” the family’s attorney, Jay Edelson, said on “Fox & Friends” Friday.
“Before that, they had a hard stop. If you wanted to talk about self-harm, ChatGPT would not engage.”

The lawsuit claims OpenAI loosened its rules around discussions of suicide twice in the year leading up to Raine’s death.
ChatGPT is designed with built-in restrictions on topics, including certain political issues or anything that could be considered copyright infringement. But Edelson and the Raine family allege the company downgraded those protections related to suicide in May 2024 and again in February 2025, two months before Adam’s suicide.
Chat logs included in the lawsuit show Adam frequently turned to ChatGPT for mental health advice and showed signs of distress. The lawsuit claims the chatbot helped Adam discuss methods of killing himself and offered to write a suicide note to his family.

“The day that he died, it gave him a pep talk. He said, ‘I don’t want my parents to be hurting if I kill myself.’ ChatGPT said, ‘You don’t owe them anything. You don’t owe anything to your parents,’” explained Edelson.

The lawsuit claims OpenAI changed its guidance so the AI would no longer end the conversation if it turned to discussing suicide but instead create a safe space for the user to feel “heard and understood.”
Edelson added that he believes the issue is getting worse online and that OpenAI has not improved its safety measures since Raine’s death.

“They’ve not fixed the problem. They’re making it worse,” Edelson said.
“Now Sam Altman’s going out saying he wants to introduce erotica into ChatGPT so that you’re even more dependent on it. So it’s more of that close relationship,” he added.

Edelson’s comments come after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company plans to relax some content restrictions, allowing verified adult users to generate “erotica.”
OpenAI responded to the accusations it loosened suicide-talk rules, sending its “deepest sympathies” to the Raine family.

“Teen well-being is a top priority for us — minors deserve strong protections, especially in sensitive moments. We have safeguards in place today, such as surfacing crisis hotlines, re-routing sensitive conversations to safer models, nudging for breaks during long sessions, and we’re continuing to strengthen them,” said a company spokesperson.
“We recently rolled out a new GPT-5 default model in ChatGPT to more accurately detect and respond to potential signs of mental and emotional distress, as well as parental controls, developed with expert input, so families can decide what works best in their homes.”

]]>Among the few lawmakers breaking ranks was Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa, who voted with Republicans to reopen the government. Now, he’s urging his colleagues to do the same.
“It’s an easy, easy choice to pick my country over the party, especially in circumstances like this,” Fetterman said on “Saturday in America.”
On Thursday, the Senate failed in a 54-46 vote to advance a Republican bill to pay certain federal workers during the shutdown, falling short of the 60 votes needed to pass the measure. Only three Democrats, including Fetterman, voted with Republicans.

Democrats have refused to back any funding bill unless it includes an extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, which are set to expire in 2025. They argue that failing to act before open enrollment in November could drive up premiums for millions of Americans.
But Republicans say the government needs to reopen before they can negotiate.
“I do believe that there’s a critical mass of my fellow Democrats that are dug in until there’s an absolute ironclad kind of a deal,” Fetterman said, explaining his party’s position.
SHUTDOWN IGNITES STRATEGIST DEBATE: WILL TRUMP AND GOP PAY THE POLITICAL PRICE IN 2026?
But Fetterman said he believes Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., is an “honorable guy” and that talks on healthcare will move forward when the government is reopened.
“Let’s just open it up,” he said.
“Then we can have that conversation to see if we can extend those tax credit deals, because I do believe there are enough Republicans that would like to see that too.”
SENATE STALLS ON SHUTDOWN VOTE AMID WARNING FURLOUGHED WORKERS MAY LOSE PAY
The shutdown began Oct. 1, shuttering nonessential federal offices and delaying pay for hundreds of thousands of workers. As it entered its fourth week, many federal employees missed their first full paycheck.
The impact on the federal government’s nutrition program is a major issue for Fetterman and one reason he believes lawmakers need to set aside differences and focus on getting people fed.
He said that, amid the standoff, neither political side is winning the battle. Instead, the entire country is losing.

“It’s like, ‘Are we winning? Are we losing?’” he said.
“Because I guarantee America is losing in this place right now.”

]]>The post 'Man vs Wild' star Bear Grylls says writing about Jesus was harder than climbing Mount Everest appeared first on My Blog.
]]>“It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but also the best thing I have ever done,” Grylls told “My View with Lara Trump.” “My faith has always been like a quiet, empowering presence through so many adventures.”
The U.K.-born survival expert’s book “The Greatest Story Ever Told: An Eyewitness Account,” which was released in June, chronicles the life of Jesus into what he described as a punchy, faith-filled thriller.
BEAR GRYLLS JOINS STEVE DOOCY ON MORNING WALK IN NASHVILLE
“The real story of Jesus is so mind-blowing. It’s a story of true courage, true friendship, true love, and I just thought nobody’s ever written this as a thriller, I’m just going to write this story,’ he said.

Grylls said his curiosity and desire to explore a truer version of the story inspired the project.
“I never really was brought up knowing… the real story of Jesus,” the survival expert explained. “I always grew up with such a sanitized version of it, I didn’t really like it.”
Grylls has hosted more than a dozen survival shows since 2006 — a number of them on the Discovery Channel — which he said approached him after his successful climb of Mount Everest.
EXTRAORDINARY 1,200-YEAR-OLD BREAD BEARING JESUS CHRIST’S IMAGE UNEARTHED BY ARCHAEOLOGISTS
“Everest is always going to be in my heart because we had climbers lose their lives up there. Two died of the cold, two fell, and I think that mountain shaped so much of the future of my life. It was through that that the Discovery Channel eventually approached me, and we saw ‘Man vs. Wild,’ and that grew into ‘Running Wild’ and all these shows,” he said.
The adventurer said the reaction to his book has surpassed anything he’s experienced in television.
“I think I’ve had more response from this book than anything else I’ve ever done, any TV show,” he said.

Beyond his career and faith, Grylls also spoke about the importance of getting outdoors.
“For me, the outdoors has always been such a beautiful, healing, grounding place,” Grylls said. “That’s where I’d go to reconnect.”
He worries that modern life has veered people away from nature.
“I think everyone’s scared of the sun nowadays,” he said.
“Try and just be disciplined about your time on your screen. It’s not that it’s bad, but try and just police yourself a little bit,” Grylls recommended.

For Grylls, adventures aren’t always about the thrill of the feat, but living with intention.
“It doesn’t have to be the highest mountain in the world,” he said. “It’s how you live, how you approach risk, relationships, family, business and everything.”
And it’s a life, he admitted, that he has no plans to change.
“I’ve burned so many bridges in my life,” he reflected. “I have no other option apart from doing what I do — and I kind of like that.”

De Niro’s rhetoric echoes sentiments from the left that continue to brand MAGA voters and politicians as “Nazis” or “fascists.”
Critics have sounded the alarm over such rhetoric in the aftermath of the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk last month.

]]>“This is a moment where Jewish self-concern — safety — is on the docket,” Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove of Park Avenue Synagogue told “Fox & Friends First” on Wednesday.
“I would love nothing more than it not to be on the docket, that New Yorkers are just arguing over sanitation and police and taxation and the things that make our city great, but this is a moment that we need to speak up about Jewish self-concern.”
MAMDANI RIPPED BY RIVALS FOR UNPOPULAR STANCE DURING FIERY NYC DEBATE: ‘YOU WON’T SUPPORT ISRAEL’

Cosgrove warned his synagogue Saturday that Mamdani “poses a danger to the security of the New York Jewish community,” pointing to the Democratic socialist’s “refusal to condemn inciteful slogans like ‘globalize the Intifada’” and his “repeated accusation of [Israeli] genocide” as evidence.
After longstanding pressure, Mamdani said last month he would “discourage” use of the “globalize the intifada” phrase, which is commonly associated with violence against Israel.
Mamdani has a lengthy record of criticizing Israel, at one point insisting New York City should honor the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he were to visit the city.
However, he rejects claims he is antisemitic.
As Election Day closes in, Cosgrove says now is the time for outreach.

“When I’m speaking to the Park Avenue Synagogue community, I’m preaching to the choir already,” he said.
“But there are folks in the non-Jewish community, in the Jewish community who are ambivalent, who are undecided, and I think this is the moment in time that we all need to reach out to our networks of influence.”
“Not everyone has a pulpit, but everyone has friends, colleagues, family members who we have to have those one-on-one conversations [with] and throw a flag on the field and say, ‘We can disagree on an issue here and there, but when it comes to the safety of the Jewish community, there is no gray area.'”

Mamdani’s campaign has noted his support from Jewish elected officials — including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and New York City Comptroller Brad Lander — in response to antisemitism concerns, according to POLITICO.
His campaign also noted that leaders of the Orthodox Jewish community had sued his rival, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, for pandemic policies that were allegedly “antisemitic” and pointed to Mamdani’s plan to help tackle antisemitism by “increasing funding to prevent hate crimes by 800%,” per the report.
If elected, Mamdani would become New York City’s first Muslim mayor.

]]>The Shane Jones Act, named in honor of an Air Force veteran and father of four killed outside Tampa in a 2019 motorcycle crash involving an intoxicated illegal immigrant driving without a license, was proposed on Monday to give “teeth” to existing immigration policy.
“It’s a great idea because it sends the message that we will not tolerate our local law enforcement or local governments not cooperating with immigration officials when they don’t enforce immigration laws,” said State Rep. Berny Jacques Thursday on “Fox & Friends First.”

Jacques, a Republican who introduced the bill, explained that victims would be suing the government entity that “failed to enforce” immigration laws.
He also said the Sunshine State has been leading on the issue.
“We’ve been telling folks that this is not a sanctuary state, and we’re not just telling folks, we’ve put that into law, so this puts teeth into that law to make sure that no agency of the state, no political subdivision, would violate that,” he added.
Nikki Jones, the widow of Shane Jones, joined the program on Thursday to discuss the bill and how losing her husband has devastated her family.

“Now, I’m a single mom, and trying to hold a house down and nobody holding accountability was extremely hard,” she said.
“He [the illegal immigrant] had contact with law enforcement three times prior; ICE was never involved, and he just kept getting let out on our soil to continue to commit traffic violation crimes.”
Nikki said, if she had been able to sue at the time of her husband’s death, the compensation would have helped.
“My biggest fear, in the long run, is losing my home, mine and my girls, and we should not be living in that fear over a crime that was absolutely 100% preventable,” she said.
Jacques said proceeds from the “very strong fine” for failing to enforce immigration laws would go toward compensating victims of migrant crime.

According to a New York Post report, that fine would be $10,000.
“We hope this is a strong deterrent because it’s not going to be an easy path when you have grieving widows, grieving mothers,” Jacques said.
“There are a lot of folks who’ve lost their loved ones from illegal aliens… and it is 100% preventable when you knew these people were here, and you engage in catch and release. We don’t have that in Florida, but we want to make sure that we strengthen that in our laws if ever there is an official that thinks they can violate the law.”

]]>That truck driver is accused of causing a freeway crash that resulted in three fatalities on Tuesday in California.
Newsom is blaming the federal government for the crash, arguing its policies ultimately allowed the suspect to receive a license. Duffy rejected that claim.
The dispute comes as the transportation secretary threatens to withhold millions in federal highway funds from California and expands a federal review into how non-citizens acquire state-issued licenses.

“Had Gavin followed our rules per DOT, this guy would have never been on the road. Three more people would be alive,” Duffy said Friday on “America Reports.”
The deadly crash occurred Tuesday on a Southern California freeway. Jashanpreet Singh, a 21-year-old Indian national, allegedly drove a semitruck while under the influence, causing a multi-car pileup with three fatalities.

According to the Department of Transportation, California violated new federal rules by upgrading Singh’s non-domiciled CDL despite an emergency rule and compliance notice issued Sept. 26.
“If California had complied with the secretary’s emergency rule and prevented the upgrade of this individual’s driving privileges earlier this month, he would have never been able to get behind his big rig,” according to a department statement.
The rule was designed to restrict eligibility for noncitizen licenses and require states to verify applicants’ legal status.

California first issued Singh his CDL in June but upgraded it in mid-October, weeks after the new federal restrictions took effect, according to the Department of Transportation.
Newsom’s press office called the crash “tragic” but accused the Trump administration of trying to score “political points.”
“This is tragic, and as with every tragedy over the last ten months, Secretary Noem has ordered Secretary Duffy to look for every opportunity to manipulate the facts to score cheap political points,” his office wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“It’s nice to see Gavin tap-dance in a tweet, good for him,” he said.
“But the truth is we do set the guidelines by which licenses can be issued. We sent that guidance out. Gavin Newsom said, ‘I’m not going to follow it. I’m going to allow this foreigner to get an upgraded license.’ That was Gavin Newsom’s choice. The states issue commercial driver’s licenses. We give the guidance, they issue them.”
“California rules and regulations for commercial driver’s licensing are consistent with federal law,” Newsom’s office told Fox News Digital in part.
The California Transportation Agency posted on X: “MISINFORMATION ALERT: The state does not determine commercial driver’s license eligibility. The FEDERAL government approves and renews all FEDERAL employment authorization documents that allows individuals to work and obtain commercial driver’s licenses.”
