A Coca-Cola fan favorite is making a permanent comeback after it was discontinued, according to reports — and it’s leaving some soda lovers to celebrate while others are hoping different classics will follow.

Diet Cherry Coke, which made a brief, limited-time comeback in retro cans and bottles sold at select retailers over the summer, is expected to return permanently in early 2026, Parade reported this week.

While Coca-Cola had not issued a formal announcement about the return of the low-calorie, sugar-free beverage, company representatives reportedly confirmed the news during the recent National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) trade show in Chicago. Fox News Digital reached out to the company for comment.

The drink is expected to hit shelves this time in new, modern-looking 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans, available across major retailers.

First introduced in 1986, the diet drink was discontinued in 2020, according to several reports.

People quickly took to social media to share their reactions.

Snackolator, a popular account that reviews new snacks, candy and fast-food releases, celebrated the news on Instagram, reiterating the NACS confirmation.

“YESSSSS,” one woman exclaimed in a comment on Snackolator’s post. “This makes me nostalgic,” she added.

“My favorite Diet Coke,” another person said.

Another woman called the limited summer release “a tease,” saying she is thrilled it will finally be sticking around.

Other content creators, who were able to get their hands on Diet Cherry Coke as recently as this week, shared mixed reviews.

“Oh my gosh, that’s even more bubbly than the lime one,” said Texas-based wellness influencer Alexa Field in a TikTok video.

“Really good,” she added. “And honestly, I feel like it’s less sweet than a typical Diet Coke, which I’m not mad about.”

Others, however, were disappointed by what they said what a lack of sweetness.

“It’s not as sweet as I thought it would be,” said Pennsylvania motherhood and wellness content creator Shelly Westwood. “I feel like you need a little bit more cherry — some maraschino cherry juice.”

Before matcha’s recent surge in popularity on social media, bartenders rarely considered whisking green tea into the mixed drinks they were making.

Rensel Cabrera, bar director at The Sylvester in Miami, said the idea started more as a trend experiment than a passion project.

“When we were doing these menu flips, we started looking at trends, style of cocktails, ingredients — and one of the top trends besides espresso martini was matcha,” Cabrera told Fox News Digital.

IS TEQUILA GOOD FOR YOU? EXPERT REVEALS WHAT MAKES IT A ‘REASONABLE CHOICE’ FOR DRINKERS

His bar doesn’t serve coffee or tea, but he figured the powder’s bright color might really make a cocktail pop.

“Since we’re a cocktail bar, we don’t really serve any teas, lattes or coffee, but we still thought it could be a cool ingredient to use,” he said.

A year later, his “Dama Verde” — a matcha-infused honeydew vodka cocktail — is one of his bestsellers.

“They’re drinking pretty hardcore at night,” he said of some of his customers, “and if they’re going to drink something, at least [let’s] make it a little healthy.”

But others point to the paradox between caffeine and alcohol — and wellness.

GEN Z DRINKERS LEAVE BARTENDERS FRUSTRATED WITH SHRINKING TIPS AS ‘TERRIBLE’ TREND EMERGES

South Carolina dietitian-nutritionist Lauren Manaker told Fox News Digital that the health benefits of matcha tend to fade when mixed with liquor.

“While matcha itself has a host of benefits, mixing it with alcohol does shift the narrative,” she said.

‘Not quite healthy’

In New York City’s East Village, Bananas founder Chris Ng and general manager Dania Kim said their boozy “Matcha Latte” has become a local hit.

Kim said she wasn’t chasing a fad when she created it.

Dania Kim, shown at right in the background, developed the “Matcha Latte” cocktail for Bananas of New York City. (Bananas NYC)

“It wasn’t [about] following any type of trend,” she told Fox News Digital. “It was more [about] catering to the weather in summer, and any particular flavors that I truly enjoyed.”

She grew up drinking matcha, but said she “didn’t know how much matcha was actually trending.”

Then she realized it was the Generation Z crowd, mostly, who were “going crazy” for the drink.

Kim said she knows the health halo only goes so far.

“Ultimately, it’s the health factor of it, even though this version is not quite healthy because it’s alcoholic,” she said.

Still, her Gen Z guests seem drawn to the idea of a better-for-you buzz.

“They don’t really drink as much,” she said. “They care more about their health and nutrition-based habits. If something is good for you, I think they’ll kind of look past any bitterness or earthiness.”

Ng told Fox News Digital that much of matcha’s appeal is visual.

“When people go out to eat, they eat with their eyes first,” he said. “When they see on a menu ‘Matcha Latte,’ the first thought probably reminds them of getting a hot drink and getting something with green tea.”

Too much caffeine?

Cabrera’s Miami version, dusted with matcha powder and citric acid, remains a top seller, though he said caffeine-sensitive customers sometimes hesitate to order it.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

“Maybe if someone doesn’t want the energy, the natural caffeine that matcha has — maybe, [later at] night, someone’s looking for something that’s not so caffeinated.”

Though it’s not marketed toward women, the cocktail seems to be more popular with that demographic, Cabrera said.

“It’s like double matcha,” he said. “The matcha is in the drink and outside the drink.”

Even for the health-conscious who aren’t big drinkers, the trade-off is clear, Manaker said.

“Matcha cocktails might feel like a middle ground,” she said. “They’re not pounding shots. And sure, they are getting some antioxidants in their drink. But they are also getting alcohol, which isn’t great for our livers or brains.”

For members of Generation Z, romance can come with a price tag — and a budget, according to a new report.

Nearly one in three singles (31%) born between 1997 and 2012 admit they’ve gone on a date just for the free meal, according to an Intuit survey of 1,500 U.S. adults conducted in September.

The study found that money is increasingly shaping relationships, from date-night budgets to deciding who pays the bill.

Overall, 51% of Americans said they’re dating less due to economic concerns, with Gen Z hit hardest at 58%. Yet many are redefining a “good” date around affordability and creativity.

GEN Z DRINKERS LEAVE BARTENDERS FRUSTRATED WITH SHRINKING TIPS AS ‘TERRIBLE’ TREND EMERGES

“For Gen Z, financial habits and ambition are becoming part of the new love language,” said Ashleigh Ewald, a Georgia Tech public policy student in her twenties.

“Money and financial security have become major forces in dating because they represent stability.”

Many Gen Z singles say their dating lives are shaped by finances. (iStock)

Nearly half of Gen Z and millennials say they don’t feel financially secure, according to a Deloitte survey released earlier this year.

Ewald said inflation and cost-of-living pressures have made creative, budget-friendly dates more common, from home-cooked dinners to shared side hustles.

Almost half of Americans say the sweet spot for a first-date budget is between $50 and $100, Intuit found.

For 22-year-old Jacksonville, Florida, media professional Katie Fites, the trend rings true.

TEST YOURSELF ON THE GEN Z SLANG OF 2025: CAN YOU DECODE ‘HUZZ’ AND ‘GLAZING’?

“A girl’s gotta eat, but I wouldn’t go out with just anyone for a free meal,” Fites told Fox News Digital. “The risk usually outweighs the reward.”

She said she’s fine with splitting costs or even covering a round of drinks, but she expects effort in return.

Katie Fites told Fox News Digital that she “wouldn’t go out with just anyone for a free meal. The risk usually outweighs the reward.” (Katie Fites)

“If you can’t afford a $15 drink, don’t ask someone out,” she said. “I want to go out with someone ambitious who knows what they want. It doesn’t mean they have to make a lot of money, but they should have direction.”

Like many of her generation, Fites said she prefers low-pressure, affordable dates — grabbing coffee, walking on the beach or getting a drink instead of an expensive dinner.

SPLITTING A RESTAURANT BILL WITH FRIENDS? EXPERT SHARES ‘MOST DESIRABLE’ APPROACH

Jason Lee, founder of the relationship app LoveTrack, which provides date ideas, conversation starters and birthday and anniversary reminders, said members of Gen Z are more frugal and creative when it comes to date nights. Some of the most popular date ideas on the app are free or low-cost, such as scavenger hunts, picnics and movie nights at home, he said.

Licensed therapist Allison Guilbault, who counsels Gen Z clients in New York City, said splitting tabs, sharing Ubers and buying their own drinks has also become the standard.

“I don’t even think they notice if their date is cheap the way that my peers and I would absolutely notice,” the 44-year-old said.

Younger daters are more transparent about income, spending and saving, according to some experts. (iStock)

Money, however, often becomes the “third wheel,” according to Intuit. A third of Americans have ended a relationship over finances, and 44% of Gen Z daters say they’d only go out with someone who earns more than they do.

Sabrina Romanoff, a New York-based psychologist and relationship expert with dating app Hily, said these financial dynamics aren’t new, but they’ve intensified.

“Historically, women tended to date men of equal or greater education or income,” she said.

Today, dating has become increasingly transactional, she added.

“In the past, a first date might have led to the hope of a future together or a potential relationship, whereas, now more cynical daters may have lower expectations, such as a free dinner or free drink.”

A Hily survey found that more than half — 57% of women and 63% of men — would stop seeing someone who can’t manage money responsibly, and about a third of women and 37% of men even find frugality attractive.

Nearly half of Gen Z and millennials say they don’t feel financially secure. (iStock)

“The goal of getting free meals, drinks or even vacations was prevalent when I was in college,” Guilbault said. She recalled the early 2000s “Sex and the City” era in New York City, when she and her friends would often hustle men to pick up the tab for dinner or drinks.

For many young couples, financial independence has become the ultimate form of security. More than half keep separate accounts, preferring autonomy to joint control, Intuit found — and they don’t dance around the “money talk.”

“We’re asking the salary question when we get exclusive because we’ve learned that love doesn’t pay the rent,” said Gen Z money expert Taylor Price.

Talking about money early in a relationship isn’t taboo for Gen Z. (iStock)

“Money has always mattered in relationships, but for Gen Z, it’s been front and center from day one,” Price told Fox News Digital.

An Ohio brewery recently sparked a viral conversation about parents bringing kids to bars and breweries, leading hundreds to chime in on the debate.

Eastside Brewing Co., an Ohio-based craft brewery that runs a taproom in Reynoldsburg, recently announced that it would begin barring children after 7 p.m. and would no longer allow unaccompanied teenagers.

In an Oct. 15 Facebook post that attracted hundreds of comments, the brewery stated that it was being threatened by customers who disagreed with the policies about kids.

SUPERMARKET GOES VIRAL AFTER LETTING CUSTOMERS SIP BEER AND WINE WHILE SHOPPING

“Although things have been going very well for us, there is one sore spot that seems to come back again and again. Unsupervised children,” the post said.

“It’s not that we don’t like kids,” the group added. “We manufacture alcohol. … We have created an environment that appeals to adults.”

Eastside Brewing Co. (not pictured) in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, drew attention after announcing new limits on the presence of children in its taproom. (iStock)

The brewery claimed that the new policy has prompted some customers to call the owner “a d—head, an a–hole and a child hater, among others.”

The statement added, “Many of these parents are the ones who sit inside the taproom drinking beer while they let their kids go outside to play.” It said kids engage in kickball matches, digging in the beer garden and antagonizing dogs as common issues.

GEN Z BREAKS TRADITIONAL BEER RULES WITH NEW ICE-COLD TREND THAT SOME CALL ‘REFRESHING’

“The truth is, we never intended for our outdoor space to be a playground for kids,” the post added.

“We have signs posted regarding our policies. Some breweries are built for kids. … Please understand, this is not us.”

The brewery (not pictured) said in a Facebook message that it “never intended for our outdoor space to be a playground for kids” but still wants to be “open to families.” (iStock)

The post added, “Yes, we want to keep the brewery open to families. … We work hard to provide a place for you to come and enjoy one another’s company over a pint.

“We hope you will continue to join us.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Eastside Brewing Co. for additional comment.

An overwhelming majority of commenters supported the brewery’s message, with dozens pledging to visit next time they were in Reynoldsburg.

“Great post. You’ve earned our business the next time we’re in town!” one Ohioan said.

“I have children, I go to the brewery to get away from children for a while,” another wrote. “You’re being generous by allowing them until 7. If you want to grab a beer while your kids run amok, go to Chuck E. Cheese.”

One customer said it was “inconsiderate” for breweries to allow children to run around aimlessly.

One commenter thanked the Ohio business for maintaining a comfortable space for adults to enjoy food and beer. (iStock)

“Take your child to a park to run their energy out before coming to a brewery,” she said. “Thanks for being a reliable establishment [where] I can enjoy food and drink!”

“I wanna know what parent in their right mind thinks a brewery is a great hangout to bring kids?” another chimed in.

Amid all the support, some users reacted negatively to the post.

Whether it’s hot chocolate or iced coffee, the temperature of drinks — and when you drink them — may influence your mood, according to researchers.

A new study, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, was shared in a San Diego State University news release on Sept. 22. Over 400 American adults were involved, all of whom were Asian or White.

“Researchers found food and beverage temperature, long recognized in traditional Asian medicine, has measurable links to anxiety, insomnia and gut discomfort,” SDSU said in the release.

SCIENTISTS REVEAL HOW YOUR FAVORITE SODA COULD QUIETLY MESS WITH YOUR MOOD

Drinking more cold beverages during warmer months was associated with “increased anxiety, more sleep disturbances and greater feelings of abdominal fullness” among Asian participants, according to the study.

The White participants, however, reported less depression, enhanced sleep quality and fewer gastrointestinal problems when they drank hot beverages in winter.

Researchers at San Diego State University found that drink temperature can influence mood and sleep quality. (iStock)

Researchers attribute the differing patterns largely to cultural consumption habits and individual temperature sensitivity — stronger effects among participants with “cold hands” — with notable variation within Asian subgroups. They emphasize that the results show correlations, not causation, and are based on self-reported data.

“This is the first study in the U.S. to directly link cold and hot dietary consumption to multiple health outcomes, with important implications for addressing rising rates of anxiety, insomnia and digestive issues,” SDSU’s statement added.

Tianying Wu, an associate professor of epidemiology at SDSU, said the research “provides a snapshot of how hot and cold consumption may relate to health outcomes.”

Wu added, “Because cold and hot consumption is such a routine part of daily life in the U.S., at home and in restaurants, the findings have broad relevance to everyday health choices.”

Asian participants reported more anxiety and sleep issues when drinking cold beverages during warmer months. (iStock)

“The next step is to conduct more rigorous prospective and intervention studies, since the effects can be dynamic — for example, older adults or individuals with poor circulation may be especially vulnerable to cold exposure.”

Jessica Mack, a wellness expert and occupational therapist, told Fox News Digital that consuming warm foods and beverages “can have a measurable impact on the body’s stress response.”

The New York-based therapist said warmth may help activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the part responsible for relaxation — and could influence the release of mood-regulating chemicals such as serotonin.

White participants saw improved mood and sleep quality when consuming hot drinks in winter, researchers noted. (iStock)

Mack, who was not involved with the study, also said warm beverages can “stimulate the vagus nerve, which helps lower heart rate and promote a sense of calm.”

“The increase in body temperature can also enhance circulation and trigger the release of feel-good neurotransmitters like serotonin,” Mack added.

“Warmth is associated with safety and comfort,” said one expert.  (iStock)

“Psychologically, warmth is associated with safety and comfort, so something as simple as sipping tea or eating a warm bowl of soup can help the body and mind shift out of fight-or-flight mode. It’s a small sensory cue with a big calming effect.”

The SDSU research was published shortly after another study found that cups of coffee may boost mood in the morning.

Eating soup can “help the body and mind shift out of fight-or-flight mode,” a wellness expert (not pictured) told Fox News Digital. (iStock)

The study followed 200 young adults over four weeks.

Americans in some cities are spending nearly four times more of their income on groceries than others, a new analysis shows, with the hardest-hit households mainly in the Midwest and South.

Residents of Detroit spend the largest share of their income on groceries — nearly 3.8% — followed closely by Cleveland and Birmingham, Alabama, according to a new report from personal finance website WalletHub. At the other end of the spectrum, residents in Fremont, California, spend less than 1%.

“In the cities where people spend the most money on groceries, residents often have low incomes on top of seeing high sticker prices on common grocery items,” said Chip Lupo, WalletHub writer and analyst.

HAMBURGER HELPER SALES SURGE AS AMERICANS TIGHTEN BUDGETS AND SEEK CHEAP, FILLING MEALS

Detroit and Cleveland have some of the lowest median household incomes in the country — $39,575 and $39,187, respectively, according to Data USA.

Cities with higher living costs such as San Francisco and San Jose, California, meanwhile, typically have higher incomes that balance out expenses.

Americans in some cities are spending nearly four times more of their income on groceries than others, according to a new study. (iStock)

The top five cities where residents spend the most on groceries are Detroit; Cleveland; Birmingham, Alabama; Newark, New Jersey; and Toledo, Ohio.

The five cities where residents spend the least are Fremont, California; San Jose, California; San Francisco; Irvine, California; and Gilbert, Arizona.

Grocery prices have climbed nearly 30% since before the COVID pandemic, according to federal data, and rose by as much as 0.6% between July and August, marking one of the largest monthly increases in the past three years.

HAMBURGER HELPER SALES SURGE AS AMERICANS TIGHTEN BUDGETS AND SEEK CHEAP, FILLING MEALS

To conduct its survey, WalletHub selected 26 grocery items covering a broad range of common household items, including meat, dairy, vegetables and fruits, frozen food and cleaning products, Lupo told Fox News Digital.

Meat and dairy prices drive most of the grocery cost gaps nationwide, with items like chicken, milk and eggs varying sharply by region, Lupo said. Produce tends to fluctuate less, he said.

Meat prices are fueling the biggest differences in grocery costs across the country, a WalletHub analyst said. (iStock)

Those in lower-income cities like Detroit and Cleveland, said Lupo, feel a bigger squeeze because even modest grocery bills eat up a larger share of limited paychecks, while people in high-income cities such as San Francisco and Washington, D.C., can better absorb inflated prices.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

Lupo said grocery prices have also risen more sharply in the Midwest and parts of the South than in many coastal cities.

“Midwest cities like Detroit and Cleveland and southern cities such as Birmingham show some of the highest grocery costs relative to income,” he said, adding that inflation and lower local wages play a big role. In high-cost coastal cities, higher incomes tend to offset the inflated prices.

He noted that the WalletHub analysis focused on 100 of the largest U.S. cities for which complete grocery cost data was available.

A spokesperson for Detroit declined to comment. Other recent reports have found that Detroit and Cleveland still rank among the most affordable cities in the U.S. based on overall living costs.

Grocery prices have stabilized but at elevated levels, driven by inflation and supply constraints, Lupo said.

“Shoppers will need to rely on budgeting, discounts and smart buying to manage the increased costs,” he said.

WalletHub’s experts also recommend sticking to a shopping list, joining store loyalty programs, buying generic products and comparing unit prices to avoid overspending.

Andrew Burnstine, an associate professor at Lynn University in Florida, told WalletHub the key to saving is planning meals, shopping with a list, comparing unit prices, choosing store brands and setting a firm grocery budget.

Jeff Shockley, a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, added that shoppers can cut costs by buying in bulk at warehouse clubs like Costco, taking advantage of discounts and loyalty programs and steering clear of impulse purchases.

Dana DiPrima, the New York-based founder of the nonprofit For Farmers Movement, which supports American farmers, also recommended shopping seasonally and locally, buying and storing staples properly, sharing bulk purchases, seeking end-of-day or “ugly” produce deals — and using every part of the food, such as beet greens and carrot tops.

“At this time of year, you can also stock up on staples and things that you need all winter that store really well, like potatoes, carrots, onions and other roots,” DiPrima told Fox News Digital.

More health-conscious Americans are showing renewed interest in dairy products.

From mixing protein shakes with Diet Coke to blending cottage cheese into pasta sauces, new viral hacks are touting potential health benefits without the sacrifice of dairy’s rich flavor.

The trend isn’t just online — it’s changing what shoppers find in dairy aisles worldwide.

The global dairy-based protein market was valued at roughly $15 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $22 billion by 2033, according to market research firm IMARC Group.

Daniel Rehal, founder of the yogurt-based probiotic supplement Zoguri, told Fox News Digital that dairy “becomes a true superfood when fermented with beneficial bacteria.”

“When we ferment dairy very carefully with beneficial bacteria like L. reuteri, it produces short-chain fatty acids and neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, leading to improved mood, energy and sleep,” he said.

“Considering that up to 80% of your immune cells are in your gut, fermented dairy-based probiotics become essential for both physical and mental wellness. To me, that’s the definition of a superfood,” he added.

The Nebraska-based entrepreneur described fermented dairy as a “2,400-year-old prescription for better health that modern medicine is only now beginning to understand.”

“For centuries, fermented dairy has been a cornerstone of healthy diets worldwide. We’re now understanding why,” he said.

“Each person has a unique gut microbiome, which dictates how they tolerate and use different foods and nutrients,” one expert said.  (iStock)

Janelle Connell, a registered dietitian and personalized nutrition expert atthe health testing company Viome, told Fox News Digital the benefits of dairy don’t just stop at its protein content.

“[Dairy is] also a source of calcium, vitamin D and vitamin A. It can be found without added sugar, making [it] a satiating part of any meal,” she said, adding that it also contains muscle-supporting amino acids.

But Connell cautioned that no food is universally healthy — and Viome has found that dairy appears to be harmful for nearly half of its million-plus customers.

“Each person has a unique gut microbiome, which dictates how they tolerate and use different foods and nutrients,” she said.

“For some, it can be a valuable source of nutrients. For others, it can be an inflammatory trigger or difficult to digest. The only way to know for sure is to use advanced testing to see how dairy and all other foods impact your unique biology.”

“Personal biology — not trends — should lead to your decision on incorporating dairy into your diet.”

Connell suggested focusing on fermented dairy and staying away from raw milk.

While the latter can contain beneficial enzymes and bacteria, it also carries a higher risk of bacterial contamination.

“Fermented dairy can support the gut — only if it’s well-tolerated by you,” she said. “A diet rich in fermented foods can increase gut microbiome diversity and reduce inflammatory markers thanks to their probiotic content.”

If you’re not used to eating dairy and want to incorporate it back into your diet, Connell advises people to “test, don’t guess.”

“An at-home gut microbiome test, like Viome’s, can help you understand how dairy foods impact you personally and whether they are the right foods to add to your routine,” she said.

But, if you’d rather ease in gradually, Connell said to “start slowly with plain, fermented dairy.”

“Fermented dairy, like yogurt or kefir, tends to be the most well-tolerated type of dairy,” she said. “Look for options that indicate they contain live or active cultures and are without added sugars.”

“Pair your dairy choice with a high-fiber food to nourish your gut microbes, like plain yogurt topped with fresh fruit and nuts, a kefir smoothie made with berries and greens, or a savory cottage cheese bowl topped with diced tomatoes and cucumbers.”
