]]>But just 21 months after coaching the 2019 LSU team to a perfect 15-0 record and a national title and helping assemble one of the greatest college football teams in history, LSU announced Orgeron would depart the program at the end of that season.
Orgeron reflected on his memorable championship run with LSU. During a recent appearance on “Andy & Ari On3,” the former Tigers coach boldly claimed that the 2019 team was superior to any other college football team ever assembled.

“There’s some great teams out there,” Orgeron said. “But that team that we had — I haven’t seen the talent.”
“Especially when you look at Joe Burrow, you look at Ja’Marr Chase, you look at Justin Jefferson and see what they are doing in the NFL. Now, obviously, there was one or two players that could have played with us or been stars on our team. But, overall, that collection of talent — now, the 2001 Miami team, it was a great team, a great collection of talent. I think you got to mention them.”
Orgeron was an assistant coach on the 2001 Miami Hurricanes team that won the Bowl Championship Series national title.

Joe Burrow was the top overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. That same year, the Minnesota Vikings used a first-round draft pick on Justin Jefferson, the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
Ja’Marr Chase joined Burrow in Cincinnati when the Bengals selected him No. 5 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
“They always talk about who’s the best team? I say, ‘Hey, you got to win it on the field.’ It’s never been done, but I think those guys were tremendous,” Orgeron added.

While the 2019 LSU team’s undefeated record is notable, the team is also remembered for its dominance leading up to the national championship game. The Tigers never fell behind an opponent in any fourth quarter that year. The team also broke college football’s all-time scoring record.

]]>Ole Miss squandered a 12-point lead in the third quarter, but it shut out the Sooners in the fourth quarter to come away with a 34-26 victory on the road.
After the game, ESPN attempted an on-field interview with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, but he still had some business to take care of.

Kiffin was heard on a hot mic talking smack to Oklahoma lineman David Stone.
“You’re a little quieter now than before,” Kiffin said.
Molly McGrath was clearly taken aback and asked Kiffin if he was getting the last word in.
“This guy yelled at me during the game, like, five times how great they are, and we can’t score on them,” Kiffin said.
Stone looked like he was trying to make peace, but Kiffin was having none of it.

Score, the Rebels did. And they led 25-13 with 5:57 to go in the third quarter. However, the Sooners answered right back with a 65-yard touchdown run by Xavier Robinson. After forcing a three-and-out, the Sooners found the end zone again to lead 26-25 late in the third.
The Rebels went on an 11-play drive that ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Trinidad Chambliss to Trace Bruckler.
With just over seven minutes to go, the Sooners were set to get the ball back, but Isaiah Sategna III lost a fumble on a punt return, and the Rebels took advantage with a field goal to make it an 8-point lead with 4:09 remaining.
The Sooners could not convert a fourth-and-5 from the Ole Miss 30 and, despite forcing another punt, were unable to pull off the miracle on their final drive.

Ole Miss improved to 7-1 (4-1), while Oklahoma fell to 6-2 (2-2). Chambliss threw for 315 yards and ran for another 53.

]]>The post Ex-NFL referee blasts SEC after longtime official Ken Williamson is reportedly permanently benched appeared first on My Blog.
]]>Yellowhammer News reported that Williamson has been “permanently suspended from officiating conference games.”
At least 11 complaints were logged against Williamson and his crew after the Auburn-Georgia game Oct. 11.
“According to sources, nine of those complaints were validated by conference officials,” the outlet reported.

Auburn was leading late in the second quarter when Tigers quarterback Jackson Arnold fumbled the ball during a short yardage play near the goal line. After a video review, officials ruled Georgia recovered the ball before Arnold was able to score a touchdown.

The controversial decision on the close call prevented Auburn from taking a commanding 17-0 lead. Instead, Georgia drove down the field and kicked a field goal to cut the deficit to seven points. The Bulldogs won 20-10.

Former NFL referee and current NBC Sports rules analyst Terry McAulay weighed in after learning of reports about Williamson’s suspension.
“This is insane. Ken is a very good referee and has been for a very long time,” McAulay wrote on X.

“I’ve commented on the Ga/Auburn game, and no, the crew did not have a very good game. It happens to officials, just as it happens to coaches and players,” he continued. “I look forward to the day an AD suspends his coach for, in a single game, poor clock management, allowing players to feign injury, bad play calls, etc.
“Or let’s permanently bench a QB for throwing a game-ending interception regardless of his past performance.

“*If* this is solely based on that one game, then shame on everyone involved. It’s yet another reason why Conferences should not oversee officiating and will forever be a dark stain on college football.”
Williamson has more than four decades of officiating experience and has been an SEC referee for 21 years. He was part of the officiating crew for the SEC championship game in 2021.
SEC officiating crews are routinely evaluated, according to the conference’s accountability guidelines. The impact those evaluations have on any future assignments and personnel decisions are private.
Fox News Digital contacted the SEC for more information on Williamson’s status.
