The U.S. women’s gymnastics team won just two medals at the World Championships in Jakarta this past week. It was the country’s lowest medal total in the international competition since 2001.

The U.S.’s only two medalists were Leanne Wong, who won an all-around silver, and Joscelyn Roberson, who won bronze on vault.

China finished ahead of the U.S. with three women’s medals, while neutral athletes competing on behalf of Russia also won three.

U.S. program lead Chellsie Memmel addressed the team’s underperformance.

“It was rough,” Memmel said, according to Olympics.com. “There were some very good pieces, but then there was rough. I didn’t feel like there was an attack of their events and their skills overall. There were still good things, but I have work to do.

“We’ll talk it over, but not beat it to death,” Memmel continued. “They know what happened. They know they didn’t perform at their best, so they’re going to want to come in and go into training and reset.”

The U.S. is used to regular dominance in the women’s category in international gymnastics. This was only the third year since 2006 in which the U.S. didn’t finish with the most women’s medals since 2006, aside from 2017 and 2021, when it tied with Japan and Russia for most.

This year, the team was without superstars Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles.

If this past week is any indication, it could spell trouble for the U.S. gymnastics women’s dynasty heading into the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“For me, it means going into each turn with the intent that it’s going to be great, and being confident with it,” Memmel explained. “Believing in that – believing in themselves – to do that and know that they can perform it when the time comes to raise their hand.”

Fans at the Rogers Centre in Toronto loudly booed Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani ahead of Game 1 of the World Series Friday.

While it is common for fans to jeer opposing players during pregame lineups, the boos that serenaded Ohtani were uniquely loud compared to those for his Dodgers teammates.

Ohtani didn’t quiet the crowd either when he came up for his first plate appearance of the game, striking out to lead off the first inning.

When Ohtani entered free agency in the winter of 2023, he visited the Blue Jays as a potential suitor before signing with the Dodgers.

The Blue Jays gave Ohtani a hat and a jacket for Decoy, Ohtani’s dog. Blue Jays manager John Schneider joked he would like both of those gifts back.

“I hope he brought his hat, the Blue Jay hat that he took from us in our meeting. I hope he brought it back, finally,” Schneider said Thursday.

“And the jacket for Decoy,” he added. “It’s like, ‘Give us our stuff back already.’”

Ohtani smiled when he heard about Schneider’s remarks and simply said through a translator, “It’s in my garage.”

The Blue Jays manager said he wasn’t sure how close the team came to signing the Japanese superstar.

“When we met with him, you felt good about it, and you felt good about the feedback he was giving about our organization and opportunity here,” Schneider said.

“But you never really know what a player’s feeling in free agency, and there’s a lot of things that have to line up for them personally, too. So, you can’t really think about what if. You think about the 26 (players) that we have.”

Chauncey Billups, Terry Rozier and Damon Jones were arrested Thursday morning as part of FBI probes into alleged illegal gambling with ties to the La Cosa Nostra crime families.

Billups and Jones are alleged to have knowingly participated in rigged poker games, while Rozier and Jones allegedly leaked non-public information about NBA games in order for those close to them to place wagers with a competitive advantage.

Each person has, or had, prominent roles in the NBA, but now, their legacies are seemingly tarnished.

Here are deep dives into how Billups, Rozier and Jones got to where they are today.

Chauncey Billups

Before getting back on the sidelines as a coach, Billups was a prominent player, most notably with the Detroit Pistons.

Billups, along with Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace and Rip Hamilton, coached by Larry Brown, won an NBA title in 2004, when Billups was named the Finals MVP.

Before that, Billups was the third overall pick by the Boston Celtics in 1997 after starring at Colorado. He was in Boston for roughly half a season before being traded to the Toronto Raptors. He was then traded to the Denver Nuggets the following year and signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2000.

Billups signed with Detroit ahead of the 2002-03 season and found his niche, becoming a defensive stalwart and being named to four of his five All-Star teams as a Piston. From 2011 through the end of his career, he made stops with the Nuggets again, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and then the Pistons a final time before calling it a career. From 2003 through 2011, he averaged 17.3 points and 6.2 assists per game.

He was hired as an assistant coach for the Clippers in 2020, then became the Portland Trail Blazers head coach the following year. He agreed to a multiyear extension with the club in April.

Billups was allegedly dubbed one of the “face cards,” which the indictment stated were “members of the Cheating Teams and received a portion of the criminal proceeds in exchange for their participation in the scheme.” The scheme resulted in victims losing at least $7.15 million, dating back to April 2019, according to the Department of Justice.

Billups was “utilized to attract victims to the games because of their status as former professional athletes,” the DOJ said.

Billups was one of five defendants who “organized and participated in rigged poker games” in Las Vegas “using a rigged shuffling machine,” with victims losing at least $50,000. One of the defendants texted another co-conspirator that Billups should purposefully lose a hand to avoid cheating suspicions.

During that game, a defendant said one of the victims had “acted like he wanted Chauncey to have his money” because he was “star struck” by Billups, according to officials.

In October 2020, Billups was allegedly wired $50,000 following a rigged poker game.

Billups’ career earnings exceeded $100 million as a player, while Jones made at least $20 million.

Billups is not listed in the sports betting scandal that led to the arrest of Terry Rozier. However, the DOJ mentioned a Trail Blazers–Chicago Bulls matchup on March 24, 2023, the day after Rozier’s alleged wrongdoings, in which a co-conspirator, “an NBA coach at the time,” allegedly told a longtime friend, who is also a defendant in the rigged poker scheme, that the Blazers would be “tanking” that night for a better draft pick and would sit some of the team’s best players. The resting of the players had not yet been public information. The team’s top four scorers, including Damian Lillard, all did not play that night, as other co-conspirators allegedly wagered more than $100,000 total against Portland.

The “co-conspirator” in question is listed as a former NBA player whose career spanned from “approximately 1997 through 2014” and “an NBA coach since at least 2021.” Only Billups fits that criterion.

Terry Rozier

Rozier was the only active NBA player arrested Thursday, as he is accused of purposely exiting a 2023 game early, citing an injury so co-conspirators could allegedly place wagers on his “under” prop bets.

Before essentially becoming a tarnished player, Rozier starred at the University of Louisville for two seasons before becoming the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Rozier was drafted by the Boston Celtics, where he spent his first four seasons mostly coming off the bench. He was traded to the Charlotte Hornets after the 2018-19 season, where he found his footing and became an everyday starter.

7 NBA GAMES DOJ SAYS WERE AFFECTED BY HIGH-STAKES WAGERS AFTER INSIDE INFORMATION WAS LEAKED TO GAMBLERS

As his minutes increased, he wound up averaging 18.0 points per game in his first season with Charlotte. The next season, he put up 20.4 points and notched a career-high 21.1 points in the 2022-23 season.

Due to his prowess, Rozier inked a four-year, $97 million contract extension with the Hornets shortly before the 2021-22 season started. However, he was traded to the Miami Heat in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick during the 2023-24 season.

It was initially reported in January that Rozier was being investigated for involvement in a game on March 23, 2023.

Rozier is alleged to have told a childhood friend, Deniro Laster, that he would take himself out of a game early, citing an injury so Laster could place wagers based on the information. Neither Hornets officials nor betting companies were made aware of Rozier’s plan, according to the indictment, and Rozier was not listed on the team’s injury report.

Laster then allegedly sold that information to other co-conspirators, and numerous people placed wagers totaling roughly $200,000 on Rozier’s “under” prop bets to hit in both parlay and straight wagers. After Rozier played just nine minutes and never returned, the bets won. Rozier and Laster counted cash winnings at Rozier’s home in Charlotte roughly a week later, the indictment says.

Damon Jones

Despite being undrafted out of Houston in 1997, Jones still managed to play 11 seasons in the NBA. The definition of a journeyman, Jones played for 10 teams in his career. However, throughout his time, he was teammates with prominent stars, including LeBron James during his three-year stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005 to 2008. He also spent a season with Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal with the Miami Heat.

He became a coach following his playing career, winning a title with James and the Cavs in 2016 as an assistant. Jones joined the Los Angeles Lakers, James’ current team, as an unofficial, unpaid member of the coaching staff for the 2022-23 season. Jones, though, is accused of wrongdoing during that season.

He is alleged to have told someone close to him that a “prominent” player on the Lakers would not play on Feb. 9, 2023, before the information was public.

“Get a big bet on [the] Milwaukee [Bucks] tonight before the information is out! [Player 3] is out tonight. Bet enough so Djones can eat to [sic] now!!!,” Jones allegedly texted a friend.

The DOJ says the player was eventually ruled out with a lower-body injury — James did not play that night due to an ankle injury that kept him out for two more games, and ESPN has reported that the player in question is, in fact, James. The game in question took place two days after James scored 38 points to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

Jones also allegedly gave apparent inside information about another “one of the Lakers’ best players” 11 months later regarding an injury that was likely to affect his performance, which ultimately backfired as the player “performed well” and the Lakers won.

Billups, Rozier and Jones, the latter of whom is a defendant in both cases, were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The NBA announced that Billups and Rozier were placed on immediate leave from their teams, “and we will continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities.”

“The integrity of our game remains our top priority,” the NBA said.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays announced their Game 1 starting pitchers for the World Series.

The Dodgers will start Blake Snell, while the Blue Jays are sending rookie Trey Yesavage to the mound. Game 1 is on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Snell has nearly as many Cy Young awards (two) as Yesavage has career regular season starts (three).

Yesavage made his Major League debut on Sept. 15 and quickly became a key part of the Blue Jays starting rotation. When the 22-year-old steps on the mound on Friday, he will have made more career postseason starts (four) than regular-season starts.

In the postseason, Yesavage has a 2-1 record in three starts with a 4.20 ERA.

Yesavage beat the New York Yankees with 5.1 scoreless, hitless innings in Game 2 of the Division Series as he struck out 11. He lost Game 2 of the AL Championship Series when he allowed five runs in four innings, and then won Game 6 of the ALCS on Sunday when he gave up two runs in 5.2 innings.

Yesavage began the season at Class A Dunedin and rose through the minor leagues rapidly. Hewas promoted to High-A Vancouver on May 20, Double-A New Hampshire on June 12, and Triple-A Buffalo on Aug. 12.

Yesavage will be tasked with holding down a Dodgers lineup that is littered with All-Stars and MVP winners.

Snell, on the other hand, was limited to 11 starts this season. In those starts, he was excellent, as he had a 5-4 record with a 2.35 ERA in just over 61 innings pitched.

In three postseason starts, Snell has raised his game to another level. He has a 3-0 record with a 0.86 ERA in 21 innings pitched, and has struck out 28 batters while walking just five.

In 15 career postseason starts, Snell has a 7-3 record and a 2.58 ERA. He will be tasked with facing the Blue Jays, an opponent he is familiar with from his time with the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 16 career games against the Blue Jays, Snell has a 5-4 record with a 2.39 ERA in 79 innings.

The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that USA Powerlifting’s (USAPL) decision to reject a biological male trans athlete from competition in the women’s category was “discrimination.”

USA Powerlifting has now responded, criticizing the court’s decision.

“Our goal since litigation commenced against USA Powerlifting in 2021 was to present all the facts and evidence of our actions to a jury,” the organization said in a statement to OutKick. “We are pleased that both of Minnesota’s state appellate courts agree we have a right to present a claim of business discrimination to a jury and look forward to offering our evidence toward that end.”

The Minnesota Supreme Court made a ruling in a powerlifting case. (Fox News Digital)

USAPL also praised the decision to let one of its claims proceed. The ruling sent part of the case back to a lower court to determine whether USA Powerlifting has a “legitimate business purpose” for excluding the trans athlete.

“Our goal since litigation commenced against USA Powerlifting (USAPL) in 2021 was to present all the facts and evidence of our actions to a jury,” the organization said. “We are pleased that both of Minnesota’s state appellate courts agree we have a right to present a claim of business discrimination to a jury and look forward to offering our evidence toward that end.”

The trans athlete, JayCee Cooper, sued USA Powerlifting in 2021, alleging the organization engaged in discriminatory practices after rejecting the athlete’s application to compete in the women’s division in 2018, arguing it violated Minnesota’s Human Rights Act.

After a lower court initially sided with Cooper in 2023, the Minnesota Court of Appeals sent the case back to the trial court, saying there were “genuine issues of fact” about whether USA Powerlifting excluded Cooper because of the athlete’s transgender identity and whether the organization had a “legitimate business reason” for doing so.

The state’s Supreme Court then decided to take up the case in July 2024.

The court’s ruling Wednesday said, “USA Powerlifting’s policy at the time of the decision was to categorically exclude transgender women from competing in the women’s division.”

“Because USA Powerlifting’s facially discriminatory policy provides direct evidence of discriminatory motive, there is no genuine issue of material fact as to whether Cooper’s transgender status actually motivated USA Powerlifting’s decision to prohibit Cooper from competing. We therefore reverse the part of the court of appeals’ decision on this issue,” Chief Justice Natalie Hudson wrote in Wednesday’s opinion.

“We agree with Cooper that USA Powerlifting’s policy is discriminatory on its face; there is therefore no genuine dispute that USA Powerlifting discriminated against Cooper because of her transgender status.”

USAPL claims it acted for “legitimate reasons.”

“USAPL acted for legitimate, non-discriminatory reasons to promote fairness in the sport when determining that Ms. Cooper should not compete in the women’s division due to her male physiology,” USAPL’s statement continued.

“Ms. Cooper was born biologically male and went through puberty as a male. According to unrebutted scientific research, males have up to a 64% strength advantage in powerlifting and suppressing testosterone only reduces the advantage by about 10%. This difference in outcomes makes it fundamentally unfair for a male-to-female transgender powerlifter to compete in the women’s division.”

USAPL also pointed to data suggesting most Americans support protecting women’s sports from trans athletes and the fact that the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has updated its athlete safety policy to only allow females in women’s sports.

“A 2025 New York Times/Ipsos poll found 79% of Americans oppose allowing transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports,” the organization noted. “Since the Minnesota Supreme Court heard oral arguments in our case, the U.S. Olympic Committee has barred transgender female athletes from competing in women’s events, and the U.K. Supreme Court ruled that the term ‘woman’ applied to biological females.”

The court’s decision was unanimous. Five of the seven Minnesota Supreme Court justices were appointed by Democratic Gov. Tim Walz, and the other two were appointed by former Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton.

Minnesota Republicans have condemned the court’s decision.

Minnesota Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth issued a statement decrying the ruling.

“For decades, women and girls fought tirelessly for the rights guaranteed under Title IX. Sadly, those hard-won protections have increasingly come under attack, and today’s decision marks another setback in the fight to protect girls’ sports,” Demuth said.

“This issue is ultimately about safety and fairness, and Minnesotans overwhelmingly agree that their daughters and granddaughters should not be forced to compete against boys. House Republicans are ready to act in the first weeks of next year’s legislative session to make clear that girls’ sports are for girls.”

Jaron “Boots” Ennis sat with his arms folded across a table, staring at his latest opponent, Uisma Lima, and telling him their boxing match would be short and sweet.

“In and out like a robbery,” the 28-year-old Ennis said with a smirk.

Confidence is a necessity in boxing. A fighter must believe he will defeat his opponent no matter the odds. But Ennis, a Philadelphia native, seemed so sure of himself in that moment.

Granted, he was a heavy favorite, but this was his first fight at the 154-pound, junior middleweight division.

Yet, he backed up every word, knocking down Lima twice before a first-round stoppage to be granted the interim WBA junior middleweight belt Oct. 11 in his home city. When you are an undefeated boxer who has knocked out all but four opponents as a professional (35-0), it’s hard not to be overly confident.

But for Ennis, the canvas, ropes and gloves feel entirely like home. There’s a comfort because, after all, it’s the family business.

“I guess just me being around the boxing game for so long and seeing my brothers come up, I kinda knew what to expect,” Ennis told Fox News Digital during a recent interview in New York City. “I knew what was going on. So, I’m just comfortable no matter where I’m at, whether it’s in the ring, doing interviews. Wherever, I’m always comfortable. I kinda see everything already. I’ve been here before.”

WWE STAR JIMMY USO OPENS UP ABOUT TEAMING WITH BROTHER AGAIN FOR MILESTONE MATCH AT WRESTLEPALOOZA

In Philadelphia, the last name Ennis rings a bell in the boxing community. It starts with Derek “Bozy” Ennis, “Boots'” father and trainer, who was naturally harder on his boy than the rest of his clients.

“It’s expected because he knows what I can do,” “Boots” said of his father’s training. “I gotta deliver it, so that’s what I be on. I don’t take the criticisms hard from my dad. It’s actually motivation for me to keep going.”

“Boots” added that he prefers the tough love, saying, “I don’t want no yes men around me.” He wants to know what he’s doing right or wrong.

But his brothers also laid the foundation for that. Derek “Pooh” Ennis and Farah “The Quiet Storm” Ennis were also professional fighters with lofty expectations, though they never competed for a world title like their little brother.

“Very supportive of each other. They just led the way,” “Boots” said of his brothers’ influence. “They showed me what to do and what not to do, and I just followed their direction and always stayed in some type of shape and ready. You never know when you’re going to get that call. So, that’s what I do, try to stay in some type of shape, try to live the right lifestyle outside of boxing in case I do have to get a call, and I’ll be ready.”

Since he was in a jumper, “Boots” was running around his father’s gym observing, training and understanding what it takes to compete at the highest level.

“I’ve seen it all, so I know what it takes,” “Boots” said. “I know how everything goes and just having that confidence because I put the work in. I know what to do, and I know what I did. And I know can’t nobody do nothing with me. I’m in shape, I do everything right. I don’t cut no corners. My training camps be going great, so that’s where my confidence comes from for sure.”

Even though it was his third time fighting in the South Philly arena earlier this month, “Boots” considered his first-round knockout of Lima a “full-circle moment” due to how important this fight was, even if Lima wasn’t the biggest name in the game. It was “Boots’” first fight in a new division after previously being the unified welterweight champion, holding both the IBF and WBA titles before making the jump to junior middleweight.

He’s been training his whole life to get to this point in the sport, where the glorified “best pound-for-pound” debate involves his name. And he doesn’t mind the pressure or expectation, especially given his family history in the sport.

That was showcased with his patented confidence after the fight. He called out those in his new weight class, including Vergil Ortiz Jr., the WBC interim champion.

DEONTAY WILDER, NEARING 40, SAYS HE’S ‘DOWN’ TO FIGHT JAKE PAUL AS HE HAS ’10 YEARS LEFT’ IN CAREER

It’s a fight that’s in the works and expected for 2026 after Ortiz fights Nov. 8.

“I want to knock them down one by one. I want to show everyone why I’m the best in the world,” he said.

The pound-for-pound conversation usually revolves around Terence “Bud” Crawford, especially after defeating Canelo Álvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion. He became the only male fighter in the four-belt era to be undisputed champion in three different weight classes, but that’s exactly what “Boots” is shooting for.

Some compare “Boots” to Crawford, but the former isn’t a fan of it. Not because he doesn’t respect Crawford’s fighting style.

“We’re totally two different fighters. I don’t like when they compare me and him together because we don’t fight nothing alike. He’s got his style, and I’ve got my style,” “Boots” said.

If there’s anything “Boots” wants to be compared to when it comes to Crawford, it’s their legacy within boxing. Crawford is at the twilight of his career, while “Boots” is in his prime. The potential is there to be the pound-for-pound best in the sport, and “Boots” believes that conversation will only grow as he works through the 154-pound class.

“My legacy, like I’ve said, I want to be a multi-division champ. And I want to show the world that I’m really him. And I will,” he said. “We started at [147 pounds] and I was lineal champion at 147. I’m in the history books at 147. Now, we’re at 154 now, and we just keep going. 154, 160 and possibly 168.”

“Boots” simply replied, “Facts,” when asked if he believes he’ll become that best-pound-for-pound boxer at some point in his career.

But the weight of those expectations has the ability to crush the shoulders of the fighter who’s burdened with them. However, “Boots” has the skill and the support system necessary to go through that hard-fought journey, which includes his mother, who he says will do whatever he needs to support his dream.

“Family means everything. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today,” he said. “My brothers and my dad paved my way for me and my mom as well. They showed me what to do and what not to do and things like that. And treat people how you want to be treated. That’s how I carry myself.”

There are a lot of questions that need answering for the 1-6 Miami Dolphins, but one of them was why Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins’ top receiver without Tyreek Hill on the field for the remainder of the season, didn’t see much action in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has an answer, and it’s likely Dolphins fans don’t want to hear it.

“I think with that, some of it has to do with being able to see guys, with their guys also up front and our guys,” Tagovailoa told reporters Tuesday.

“I’m not the tallest guy in the back there either. So, being able to see, and then sometimes when that happens, you don’t want to just throw it blindly, and you gotta progress. So, I think that has some merit to reasons as to why that happened for Waddle.”

It’s no secret Tagovailoa, listed at 6-foot-1, isn’t the tallest quarterback in the NFL. But it’s another thing to admit he isn’t able to see his receivers during plays.

It may be true, but obviously having sight of your offensive weapons is key for any quarterback. Nonetheless, Tagovailoa targeted Waddle, who stands at 5-foot-10, just four times in the 31-6beatdown on the road. He caught just one pass for 15 yards.

CONTROVERSIAL FORMER NFL LINEMAN RIPS DOLPHINS AMID POOR START: ‘THIS IS A DUMPSTER FIRE’

Waddle hasn’t had this few targets or catches in a single game since Week 14 against the Houston Texans last season. In that game, Waddle didn’t have one catch and was only targeted twice, though he suffered a knee injury.

But Tagovailoa was struggling all day for the Dolphins, and the Browns’ defense intercepted three passes and limited Tagovailoa to 12 completed passes for 100 yards in the loss.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel had Tagovailoa working with his teammates like a well-oiled machine, but this season has proved hard to get that same timing on each week.

McDaniel noted on Tuesday that he and Tagovailoa had an hour-and-a-half meeting the day prior, which he called “great.”

“I think there’s zero uncertainty with Tua on my conviction in him and my belief in him,” McDaniel told reporters. “We’re both very eager to do better at our jobs, and we’re both very committed and trusting of each other to respond to what is necessary for the team to do better.”

The 27-year-old quarterback leads the NFL in interceptions this season with 10 compared to 11 touchdown passes. He has thrown for 1,313 yards with a 67.8% completion rate.

Basketball Hall of Famer Chauncey Billups left an Oregon federal courthouse without answering questions on Thursday after he was arrested as part of an FBI gambling investigation.

Federal officials announced Billups was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. He’s set to be arraigned at a federal courthouse in New York on Nov. 24.

He was released from custody under certain conditions. He was forced to turn over his passport and was barred from gambling-related activity and having any contact with any of the 30-plus co-defendants who were also charged, including Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and former player and assistant coach Damon Jones. He’s unable to travel outside of Oregon and Colorado.

“The conditions are standard and common in allegations like this,” his attorney Chris Heywood told The Oregonian. “Folks shouldn’t draw any conclusions from this.”

Billups was spotted walking out of the courtroom in a brown hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. He was on the sidelines for the Trail Blazers’ game on Wednesday night.

The NBA placed him on administrative leave.

“We are in the process of reviewing the federal indictments announced today,” the league said.”Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups are being placed on immediate leave from their teams, and we will continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities. We take these allegations with the utmost seriousness, and the integrity of our game remains our top priority.”

The Trail Blazers said Thiago Splitter would take over head-coaching duties in the interim.

“We are aware of the allegations involving head coach Chauncey Billups, and the Trail Blazers are fully cooperating with the investigation,” the team said. “Billups has been placed on immediate leave, and Tiago Splitter will assume head coaching duties in the interim. Any further questions should be directed to the NBA.”

“Anyone who knows Chauncey Billups knows he is a man of integrity; men of integrity do not cheat and defraud others,” the statement read, via ESPN. “To believe that Chauncey Billups did what the federal government is accusing him of is to believe that he would risk his hall-of-fame legacy, his reputation, and his freedom. He would not jeopardize those things for anything, let alone a card game.

“Furthermore, Chauncey Billups has never and would never gamble on basketball games, provide insider information, or sacrifice the trust of his team and the League, as it would tarnish the game he has devoted his entire life to. Chauncey Billups has never backed down. He does not plan to do so now. He will fight these allegations with the same tenacity that marked his 28-year career. We look forward to our day in court.”

Billups and Jones were charged as part of an investigation into rigged poker games with alleged ties to the La Costa Nostra crime families.

NBA PLAYER TERRY ROZIER’S LAWYER SLAMS FBI AFTER ARREST

Billups and Joneswere allegedly dubbed as “face cards” which, the indictment says, were “members of the Cheating Teams and received a portion of the criminal proceeds in exchange for their participation in the scheme.” The scheme resulted in the victims losing at least $7.15 million, dating back to April 2019, according to the Department of Justice.

“Billups and Jones, in particular… were utilized to attract victims to the games because of their status as former professional athletes,” the DOJ said.

The DOJ added that in April 2019, Billups was one of five defendants who “organized and participated in rigged poker games” in Las Vegas “using a rigged shuffling machine” with the victims losing at least $50,000.

Before one game, Jones allegedly asked for a $10,000 advance and said that he “needed” action “bad.” He was given $2,500.

In response to being coached on how to cheat, Jones replied, “Lol man y’all call Djones in cause y’all know I know what I’m doing!!” according to the DOJ.

Recreational activities will not be part of the Baltimore Ravens locker room, at least for the foreseeable future.

Coach John Harbaugh made the decision to strip the room of video game consoles, ping-pong tables, cornhole boards and other items, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The decision was made following the Ravens Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens dropped their next two games, bringing the team’s losing skid to four.

Injuries have impacted the Ravens this season as the team fell to its current 1-5 record. A 41-17 defeat of the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 marked Baltimore’s lone victory this season.

Lamar Jackson has missed multiple games this season but could soon return to action. The two-time NFL MVP remains listed as questionable for this Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, but he was a limited practice participant on Wednesday.

An Instagram post from Ravens punter Jordan Stout that appeared to show Jackson playing a video game could have contributed to the decision to remove certain items from the locker room. The post featured the caption, “Hard at work.”

The Ravens advanced to the AFC Championship game, and Jackson received MVP honors for a second time. Baltimore won a playoff game last season and entered 2025 with expectations of contending for a Super Bowl title.

It remains to be seen whether pulling gaming consoles and other recreational items will have an impact on the Ravens as the team tries to turn its season around.
